You will feel like you don't have role models or people you can look up to as the kind of person you are and the way you see the world.
You are fully capable of growing to be all the things and the person and friend you wish you had seen as as a kid.
Brian’s Experience Growing Up as LBGTQI2S:
“As a Queer kid growing up in Scarborough, I felt like politics and leadership were so important in the world. We were losing out because people who did not care about our communities were making important decisions about them. I felt like as a Chinese Jamaican kid, there were no voices like mine in politics and I should not ever try to take up space and be someone who could make a difference. It was not until I was in my late 20s that I realized that I cannot keep waiting for other people to step up and fight for the world I want to see. It’s up to us to step up and lead.”
